That topic was the <b>"Four Noble Truths"</b> with its subtlety &amp; depth. <br /><br /> This year we have chosen the <b>"Four Foundations of Mindfulness"</b>; an appropriate topic to move towards from the Noble Truths to help us deepen in our understanding of what the Buddha taught so many years ago. <br /><br /> <b>Here is our upcoming event schedule for 2012:</b> </blockquote> <hr width="400" size="1"> <blockquote> <h3>January 7th</h3> The first in a series of Sat morning "mini-retreats" offered by our own facilitators that will simply allow for a morning of mostly sitting &amp; walking meditation, with a short Dharma offering &amp; some question and answer. <br><br> The event will be from 9am till 12N at St. Peters Church Hall. <br><br> The suggested dana is $10. The focus of the event will be the year long topic mentioned above. <br /><br /> <hr width="400" size="1"> <h3>January 21st</h3> Intro to Meditation from 10am till noon at the St. Peters Church Hall. Lead by one of our own facilitators, this event focuses on a basic teaching of how to meditate in the Insight Buddhist tradition. <br><br> Suggested dana is $5. <br /><br /> <hr width="400" size="1"> <h3>February 3rd and 4th</h3> A Friday evening Dharma talk offered by our own facilitators. We will keep the focus on our topic for the year. Suggested dana is just $5. <br><br> Saturday will be another morning "mini-retreat" from 9am till Noon at St. Peters Church Hall with the same format as the above January 7th mini-retreat with a suggested dana of $10. <br /><br /> <hr width="400" size="1"> <h3>March 2nd and 3rd</h3> This is our first Friday evening Dharma talk &amp; Sat morning mini-retreat with an invited teacher coming to Lewes. <br><br> Anne Briggs will be returning from her Chestertown, MD Sangha to offer us a Friday evening talk from 7:30 to 9:pm &amp; a Saturday mini-retreat from 9:am till 12N. <br><br> The suggested dana is $5 for Friday &amp; $15 for Saturday and both events will be at St. Peters Church Hall. The focus will again be our topic for the year mentioned above. Please see our "About Our Teachers" section for more information on Anne. <br /><br /> <hr width="400" size="1"> <h3>April 13th and 14th</h3> This is our first weekend event offering a "day-long retreat". Our long time friend &amp; teacher from IMCW in Washington DC will be returning to focus on our topic of the year. He will do a Friday evening Dharma talk from 7:30 to 9pm at St. Peters Church Hall and the day-long retreat at the Lewes Public Library 2nd floor from 9am to 3pm. The library is a very nice setting for a day-long retreat. <br><br> The suggested dana for Friday is $5 and $35 for Saturday which includes lunch. Please see our "About Our Teachers" section for more information on Jon. <br /><br /> <hr width="400" size="1"> <h3>May 4th and 5th</h3> A Friday evening Dharma talk offered by our own facilitators from 7:30 till 9pm at St. Peters Church Hall. The focus will remain on our year long topic of the Four Foundations of Mindfulness. Suggested dana is $5. <br><br> Saturday will be a continuation of our "self-lead" mini-retreats at St. Peters Church Hall from 9am till 12N with a suggested dana of $10. The format &amp; topic will be the same as the above January 7th mini-retreat. <br /><br /> <hr width="400" size="1"> <h3>June 1st and 2nd</h3> This weekend of events is a continuation of our "self-lead" facilitation of a Friday evening Dharma talk &amp; a Saturday mini-retreat. Both events will be at St. Peters Church Hall with Friday being from 7:30 till 9pm and Saturday morning from 9am till 12N. <br><br> The suggested dana is $5 for Friday and $10 for Saturday. The topic remains our topic for the year with the emphasis on Saturday for simply sitting &amp; walking meditation. <br /><br /> <hr width="400" size="1"> <h3>September 22nd</h3> This Saturday morning event will be our 2nd offering of an "Intro to Meditation". It will be from 10am till 12N at St. Peters Church Hall with a suggested dana of $5. The focus will be on how to meditate in the Insight Buddhist tradition and will be lead by one of our own facilitators. <br /><br /> <hr width="400" size="1"> <h3>October 5th and 6th</h3> This weekend of events includes our 2nd day-long retreat of the year with our invited teacher from IMCW in Washington, DC Luisa Montero Diaz. Luisa is a long time friend &amp; teacher for our Sangha and she will be doing the Friday evening Dharma talk from 7:30 till 9pm at St. Peters Church Hall. The Saturday day-long retreat will be at the Biden Center in Henlopen State Park from 9am till 3pm; which is a very nice setting for a day-long retreat. <br><br> The suggested dana for Friday is $5 and Saturday is $35 which includes lunch. The topic will remain our chosen topic of the year which is the Four Foundations of Mindfulness. <br /><br /> <hr width="400" size="1"> <h3>November 3rd</h3> This Saturday mini-retreat is a continuation of our "self-lead" events offering this time to simply sit in a group session and do sitting &amp; walking meditation with a short Dharma talk and some time for question and answer focusing on our chosen topic of the year. <br><br> The mini-retreat will be from 9am till 12N at St. Peters Church Hall with a suggested dana of $10. <br /><br /> <hr width="400" size="1"> <h3>December 7th and 8th</h3> This weekend of events are again a continuation of our "self-lead" events like above with a focus on our chosen topic of the year being the Four Foundations of Mindfulness. The Friday evening Dharma talk will be from 7:30 till 9pm at St. Peters Church Hall and the Saturday mini-retreat will be from 9am till 12N also at St. Peters Church Hall. <br><br> The Friday evening suggested dana is $5 &amp; Saturday is $10. <br /><br /> <hr width="400" size="1"> <div> <div> <h4>All programs and events are open to everyone of all traditions, without any requirements or commitments.</h4> <a name="dana"><h2>What is Dana?</h2></a> In the Buddhist tradition, the teachings are considered so precious as to be priceless; they are given freely, with the opportunity to offer voluntary donations. <br><br> Dana is the ancient Pali word for "spontaneous generosity of the heart" or simply, generosity. <br><br> We are a small group and all of our expenses are supported by these donations.
